Oakland University – Two Assistant/Associate Professor Positions<br>
Department of Counseling<br>
<br>
Position: The Department of Counseling at Oakland University,<br>
Rochester, Michigan, is seeking applicants for two tenure-track<br>
assistant or associate professor faculty positions available beginning<br>
August 15, 2011. The positions will be full-time appointments with the<br>
possibility of Summer teaching. A specialist in school counseling is<br>
preferred for one of the positions, while a generalist is preferred<br>
for the other.<br>
<br>
Salary: Competitive and dependent upon qualifications and experience.<br>
<br>
Responsibilities: Teach and conduct scholarly activities in CACREP<br>
accredited master’s programs and doctoral program. Teaching<br>
assignments will be in both school and community counseling tracks,<br>
including clinical and doctoral courses.<br>
<br>
Qualifications: A doctorate or ABD in Counselor Education/Counseling<br>
(CACREP or CACREP equivalent); eligibility for Michigan license as a<br>
professional counselor and/or school counselor; three or more years of<br>
teaching experience in Counselor Education/Counseling is preferred;<br>
competence in working with students from diverse populations and<br>
backgrounds; and potential to develop a program of research.<br>
Preferred characteristics are strong organizational and leadership<br>
skills at the departmental and professional level.<br>
<br>
The Department: The Department of Counseling offers a Master of Arts<br>
in Counseling with an emphasis in community counseling or school<br>
counseling with on-campus programs and a program at an extension site<br>
in adjacent Macomb County. A doctoral program is offered with a choice<br>
of the following cognate areas: Mental Health Counseling, Couple and<br>
Family Counseling, Child and Adolescent Counseling, Advanced Career<br>
Counseling, Addiction Counseling, School Counseling or Wellness<br>
Counseling. Both the Master of Arts and the Doctoral programs are<br>
CACREP Accredited.<br>
<br>
Oakland University: The hilly, wooded campus is located in Oakland<br>
County in Southeastern Michigan surrounded by a wide array of school<br>
districts, educational and social service agencies. Oakland<br>
University is a fast-growing public institution of 19,000 students<br>
with baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral programs. It is<br>
conveniently located for many social, cultural and recreational<br>
activities.<br>
