I’m Marisa Gelfand, a therapist and the host of The Character’s Toolkit<https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-characters-toolkit/id1817528646>—a podcast where novels, mental health, and therapy come together.

I'm writing to tell you about the podcast and ask you to share it with students or colleagues who may be interested. Each episode is built around a single fictional novel and the journey of one character as they navigate a mental health challenge. First, I speak with the author about the character’s experience and the process of writing about it. Then, I interview a therapist to explore how they would conceptualize and work with the character’s challenges in real life—sharing concrete therapy skills and tools your students can immediately apply in practice.

The goal is to bring counseling concepts to life through the richness of storytelling, offering a creative yet clinically grounded way to deepen understanding of:

  *   Case conceptualization through literary examples
  *   Bibliotherapy as an engaging clinical tool
