Dear Colleague,

We are contacting all counseling professionals to inquire about their perspectives on AI’s integration into the counseling profession. Please lend us your assistance and share with your students and faculty.

To be eligible for this study, we expect you to identify as a counseling professional (e.g., Master’s or Doctoral level counselor practicum/internship student, Licensure-seeking counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor, Supervisor of Licensure-seeking/Licensed Professional Counselors, Part/Full-time Counseling Faculty). If you identify with one or more of these professional roles, we are hopeful that you will be willing to lend your expertise to us.

Based on recommended concept mapping procedures, the study involves three parts:

In part 1, you will be asked to generate statements that reflect your perspectives on how integration of AI into the counseling profession will influence your current role and experiences (15 to 20 minutes).

In part 2, you will be asked to sort and rate a list of statements synthesized and edited from the combined list generated by all participants in part 1 (45 to 60 minutes).

In part 3, you will have the option to participate in an online focus group (60 to 90 minutes).

We are aware that we are asking for a time commitment from you. We hope, however, that you will find the topic important to your work as well as our profession and thus be willing to participate. We will share the results of the study and any other information related to it that you might wish to receive. We value your time, and even more, your expertise as a stakeholder shaping the future of the counseling profession. Your input is critical to our ability to produce an accurate and credible mapping of counseling professionals’ perspectives on integrating AI into our practices.
