Xavier University is seeking applications for a 9-month Teaching Professor (non-tenure track) position in the Department of Counseling to begin August, 2024.   The department has 6 full-time faculty members and offers a CACREP-accredited MA in School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling characterized by a community engagement and social justice focus. Successful candidates for this position must have at least two years of experience working as a school counselor in a K-12 educational setting and a doctorate in counseling or counselor education.   Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Responsibilities:

  *   Teach, advise, and mentor students in the MA counseling programs, particularly students enrolled in the school counseling program
  *   Actively contribute to the continuous development and assessment of the overall school counseling program
  *   Assist with coordination of field experience for school counseling students, including maintaining contact with site supervisors and university supervisors
  *   Maintain current relationships with school districts and community partners and work with The Office of the Graduate School to contribute to recruitment efforts on behalf of the school counseling program
  *   Provide service, outreach, engagement, and leadership in the Department and College

Qualifications:

  *   An earned doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited university (preferred)
  *   Experience as a school counselor in K-12 schools (min. 2 years)
  *   Knowledge of the ASCA model
  *   Teaching experience at the university level
  *   Eligibility for licensure in Ohio as a professional school counselor
  *   Commitment to helping counseling students develop culturally responsive counseling skills that demonstrate awareness of diversity and social justice issues relevant to professional school counseling
  *   Involvement in professional counseling-related organizations
