[Counselor_Educ] FW: Alpha Chapter of CSI Professional Development Event

We are happy to announce our fall professional development event. On December 1st at 4:30pm, Dr.Lucky Odirile will be presenting for the Alpha Chapter on the experiences of Botswanan counselors during the pandemic.



Centers for Disease Control and Prevention indicated that by April 2021, 138 million people had contracted COVID 19 and that 3 million were dead. In November 2021, the worldwide number of documented cases is 254 million, with a reported 5.11 million dead. Many of those who have died were parents, leaving a trail of orphans, especially in Africa. Dr. Lucky Odirile shares personal stories from some Botswana counselors about their experiences during the COVID 19 pandemic. The personal stories were shared during helpers debriefing sessions which were meant to assist them share with each other on how the pandemic was affecting their personal as well as professional lives. It is evident that counselors practicing in this era will be faced with issues of death, dying, grief, and trauma.
