Subject: Request for Permission to Recruit Participants

Dear Program Representative,

My name is Claudia Hernandez, and I am a doctoral student at Adler University working towards completing my degree requirements for our Counselor Education and Supervision program. I, along with the co-investigator, Dr. John Beckenbach, Associate Professor at Adler University, are seeking participants for a study that will explore the relationship between acculturation, supervisory working alliance, and willingness to self-disclose for Latinx master’s level counseling students. The title of the study is “Acculturation, Willingness to Self-Disclose, and Supervisory Working Alliance for Latinx Supervisees” (IRB #21-053). We are seeking your permission for a member of your program to distribute the accompanying recruitment email to your program’s students.

In this survey, participants will be asked about their experiences in individual supervision, during their previous or current clinical practicum and internship. The online will take approximately 20 to 30 minutes to complete.

In order for students to participate, they must:

  1. Must be 18 years of age or older
  2. Self-identified as Latinx, Hispanic, or Hispanic and Latin subgroups
  3. Currently enrolled as a full-time or part-time CACREP accredited and non-accredited master’s level counseling or related program
  4. Currently undergoing clinical training in practicum or internship of their program
  5. A minimum of three hours of individual supervision and five hours of direct clinical work already completed at the start of participating in the research study.

Exclusionary criteria include doctoral students, non-degree seeking students, or international students. Moreover, direct individual supervision excludes triadic supervision experiences.
