I am honored to share that the Counseling Department at Cleveland State University is looking for an Assistant Professor of Practice in Counseling to begin Fall 2022. Come join our team!

Job Summary: The Department of Counseling, Administration, Supervision, and Adult Learning (CASAL) at Cleveland State University is seeking applicants of the highest caliber for the position of Professor of Practice in the Counselor Education Program beginning on August 22, 2022. CSU is striving to be a nationally recognized and student-focused public research institution that provides accessible, affordable, and Engaged Learning opportunities for all. Especially welcomed are those applicants who hold intersectional identities. The successful candidate will be working in a premier CACREP accredited Counselor Education Program in Northeast Ohio that enrolls a diverse student body and boasts nationally recognized faculty. The newly hired Professor of Practice will teach master’s level courses in clinical mental health and school counseling areas of specialization. They will be expected to focus primarily on teaching with some departmental service such as academic advising. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence, ethical practice, fostering harmony, enhancing diversity, and creating an inclusive culture within the department.

Minimum Qualifications: Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP accredited program. Experience with graduate level teaching in a Counselor Education program. Evidence of experience contributing to the diversity, cultural sensitivity, and excellence of the academic community (e.g., teaching, research, service, and/or clinical work). Evidence of publication of peer-reviewed scholarship.

Preferred Qualifications: Evidence of teaching effectiveness (e.g. course evaluations, documentation from the department chair). Experience with advising graduate level students. Currently licensed as a school counselor and/or clinical counselor in the state of Ohio OR documented evidence of license eligibility (e.g. correspondence with the ODE or OCSWMFT Board). Leadership activity with professional counseling organizations (e.g. serving as an officer or being invited to serve on an Advisory Committee). At least 5 years of professional experience working with children and/or adolescents (ex. k-12 setting, clinical mental health setting, private practice).

Applicants are required to submit the following documents: (a) cover letter including an explanation of your experience serving diverse students and how you will make a positive contribution to CSU’s diverse community, (b) curriculum vitae, © statement of teaching philosophy, (d) list of all courses taught, (e) transcripts, (f) evidence of teaching experience in a Counselor Education program, (g) Evidence showing that you are licensed as a school counselor and/or clinical counselor in the state of Ohio OR documented evidence of license eligibility (e.g. correspondence with the ODE or OCSWMFT Board), and (h) three reference letters with contact information.
