NRA MEMBER SINCE 1996

I am presently employed by the State of Ohio as a Disability Management Coordinator. During my tenure, I previously held the positions of Industrial Rehabilitation Case Management Specialist, Facilitator and Vocational Evaluator. Additionally, I have a Master’s of Education in Rehabilitation Counseling as well as being a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. I am licensed as a Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor.

I am seeking election as a Board Member-At-Large because, I recognize the importance of the Ohio Rehabilitation Association and the task with which it is charged. I have been a member of NRA/ORA in excess of 20 years and it is my hope that people understand the importance of the Rehabilitation Community, because it is an integral aspect of our society. I aspire to become “part of the solution” while seeking to demonstrate the importance the Rehabilitation Counseling discipline.

KARA BHAKUNI
NRA MEMBER SINCE 2012

I have over 20 years of experience working the vocational rehabilitation field in a multitude of positions including Job Coach, Vocational Evaluator, and Director of Mission Services. My current position with Goodwill Industries of Greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio is Director of Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement.  I graduated from the University of Wisconsin Stout in 2009, am a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and a CARF surveyor.

I am excited to serve where my skills can be most useful and for the opportunity to be a part of growing the comradery and support that comes from being a part of a professional organization.

But. . . .

The ORA Board met recently this month to discuss how best to fill our upcoming Board vacancies. We are pleased to have new members put their hats in the ring, Kara and Robin.

NOW, we are looking to fill the following additional officer vacancies: President-Elect and Secretary. At this time, we are appreciative Doug Bailey, our Treasurer since 2017, has agreed to continue to serve in this role. However, we would like to find someone to be a Treasurer-Elect who would work under Doug’s tutelage to learn this important role on the Board.

PLEASE NOTE, WE HAVE PROVIDED INFORMATION ON THESE POSITIONS BELOW

What’s involved? The ORA Board typically meets every month or so, via ZOOM for approximately an hour to 1-1/2 hours. These meetings ensure we remain on target with our Strategic Plan and Budget and keep our mission and the "business” of ORA going forward.
