Dear Dean, Graduate Chair, Director, Program Coordinator, Professor or Administrator,

This is the official call for applicants for the Graduate Student Senate College Senator, Department Representative and Commissioner positions for the 2020-2021 academic year that is filled every fall semester. 

The Graduate Student Senate (GSS) plays an active role in shaping university policy and getting involved with GSS is a great way to improve the Ohio University graduate student experience and connect with graduate students from other disciplines. In the past, GSS has had an important role on issues ranging from student health insurance, women’s affairs, reducing student fees to sustainability initiatives, as well as organizing graduate student programming on campus. With your help we can continue to make positive changes for graduate students on Ohio University’s campus.

One of the best ways that you can support the graduate students in your college/department is to pass on the surveys below to your grad students to apply for these positions: College Senator, Department Representative,  and Commissioner to the Graduate Student Senate.  In the past, GSS has recognized that some colleges and departments have held their own elections for Senators and Representatives. The GSS executives are in full support of this approach and want to expand our support for elections by sharing potential candidates for each college with their associate graduate student community. If needed, we can also ask the candidate to reach out to you for approval.

Thus, we are asking for your help as a Dean, Graduate Chair, Director, Program Coordinator or Administrator to assist us in passing on the call for applicants for the 20-21 GSS general body and to reach as many grad students as we can.

Below are the two surveys for grad students to fill if they are interested to be part of GSS for 2020-21 academic year. GSS has developed these surveys to be a minimal burden to your already busy schedule.
