The House and Senate are currently negotiating their Fiscal Year (FY) 2019 Labor, HHS, Education appropriations bill. The measure contains funding for vital programs related to mental health, substance abuse, school counseling and education programs. Importantly, the Senate included an amendment that would create a $10 million pilot program at the Department of Education to prioritize school-based mental health services in high-needs school districts.
Please contact your elected representatives by the close of business on Monday, Sept. 10, and ask them to support a final FY 2019 Labor, HHS, Education appropriations bill that contains this critical amendment. A final vote could happen next week.
