Dear Chairs and Directors,
The Graduate Writing & Research Center is sponsoring two free graduate writing retreats in May with priority application deadlines approaching soon. Please forward the information below to your graduate students, especially to any who have been struggling to make progress. May is a great time to help students build momentum for the summer.

The upcoming retreats focus on literature reviews and overcoming obstacles, but students at any stage of the process (or those working on theses, grants, etc.) will be accepted if space permits. I also wanted to let those of you in the sciences know that we’ve finally been able to hire a tutor who is also a scientist, Dr. Nigel Daniels. Students are always welcome to work with any tutor, but those in the sciences may prefer to work with Dr. Daniels.

This May, the Graduate Writing & Research Center will host two free writing retreats, Writing Literature Reviews (May 9-11 with priority application deadline of April 25), and Overcoming Obstacles (May 21-23 with priority application deadline of May 1).

Graduate Writing Retreats are open to fifteen participants who are writing theses, dissertations, grants, and/or journal articles. All retreats are facilitated by Dr. Talinn Phillips, Associate Professor of English and Director of the GWRC.  Retreats run from 9:00 AM-4:30 PM in Alden Library and participants must commit to attend the full retreat.

The upcoming retreats focus on literature reviews and overcoming obstacles, but students at any stage of the writing process (or those working on theses, grants, etc.) will be accepted if space permits. Please note that the retreats are free this year due to generous support from Ohio University's 1804 grant.
