ASGW Student Volunteer Scholarship Application

The Association for Specialists in Group Work (ASGW) Graduate Student and New Professionals Committee is offering an exciting opportunity for graduate students to meet and interact with leading group counseling professionals at the American Counseling Association Conference in Montr¨¦al, QC, Canada on March 31-April 3, 2016.



In return for seven hours of their time volunteering at the conference, graduate student volunteers will receive a $100 stipend.  Volunteers will also have the option to share a room free of charge on Thursday and Friday night

  *   Student volunteers need to be enrolled in a full-time graduate program at the time of the conference.
  *   Student volunteers need to be current student members of ASGW and ACA.
  *   Applications must be submitted electronically (scanned and emailed) and include this application form along with a 500 word personal statement addressing the following questions:

1.      How do you believe your professional development and leadership might be enhanced through conference attendance and involvement in professional organizations such as ASGW?

2.      Do you have any previous professional association volunteer or conference activity experience, and what are your reflections on these experiences?

3.      What experiences have you had in group work and what about group work interests you?
The application deadline to be considered for a student volunteer scholarship is January 25th by 5:00 pm MST.  Please note that you will be contacted by February. 15th if you have been selected as a volunteer scholarship recipient (priority is placed on a first come first serve basis as well as responses to the questions above).
