Greetings friends!!

THANK YOU for your support for Good Works over the years. We are sustained by a warm and loving community made up of people like YOU and for this, we are very grateful!

We are preparing for our 15th Summer Service program where we will welcome volunteers from all over the southeast Ohio as well as visiting groups from Ohio, New Hampshire, Maryland, Illinois, North Carolina and Kentucky. Groups will stay in our dorms on the Good Works property and will spend their week serving adults and children in the community.   This summer we will again be reaching out to our neighbors all over Athens County (mostly widows and people who struggle with a disability)  by helping them with practical things at their homes. We call this initiative Neighbors Helping Neighbors. We are seeking lawn mowers and trimmers in good working condition.  We send volunteers all over Athens County to cut the grass of people in our Neighbors Helping Neighbors initiative. We are also planting 20 different gardens this summer. A few are community gardens but most are at the homes of those we serve all over Athens County. Finally, we are planning another every-day KIDS DISCOVERY CLUB followed by a free summer lunch for adults and children.

We are seeking presenters who would come one time and talk about something that would be interesting to children grades 1-6th.  Do you have a passion and knowledge of something that might benefit the kids we will serving this summer?  If so, read the KDC flier below and contact Emily Axe and let her know you are interested in exploring the idea of doing a 1-time 30, 45 or 60 minute morning presentation. We are also seeking volunteers once a week for 7 weeks who will help us with the Summer Lunch and/or volunteer one day a week with the kids club.

If you are able to assist us in any way including helping us locate food for the summer lunch,  this would be a great encouragement to us.
