Position Announcement: Assistant Professor
Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, New Orleans
School of Allied Health Professions
Department of Clinical Rehabilitation and Counseling

The School of Allied Health Professions (SAHP) of the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center New Orleans (LSUHSC) seeks applications from qualified candidates for a 12-month, clinical track faculty position to serve as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Rehabilitation and Counseling (CRC).

Position Responsibilities:
LSUHSC-NO invites application for an Assistant Professor in our master's level, Clinical Rehabilitation and Counseling program. The successful candidate will teach graduate level courses in counseling, provide mental health counseling services in the Child and Family Counseling Clinic, maintain active research and publication agenda, supervise master's level students and provide service to the Department, School and Health Sciences Center. Candidates will be expected to work in collaboration with other colleagues in the School of Allied Health Professions as well as our community partners.

Required Qualifications:

  *   Earned doctorate in Counselor Education, Rehabilitation Counseling or a closely related field.
  *   Professional identity as a Counselor
  *   Experience teaching or co-teaching graduate level courses
  *   Experience providing mental health services to children, adolescents and families
  *   Hold credential as a professional counselor through NBCC/CRCC
  *   Licensed or eligible for licensure as a LPC/LRC in Louisiana

Preferred Qualifications:

  *   Background in Play Therapy
  *   Background in Applied Behavior Analysis
  *   Commitment to the field of counseling, rehabilitation counseling or clinical mental health counseling as evidenced by education, teaching, experience, research, and professional affiliations such as the American Counseling Association (ACA), the American Rehabilitation Counseling Association (ARCA), the Association of Counselor Educators & Supervisors (ACES), and the American Mental Health Counseling Association (AMHCA)
  *   Comfort using technology in teaching and course development
  *   Commitment to diversity

The LSUHSC Department of Clinical Rehabilitation and Counseling is strongly committed to continuing its reputation of excellence in research, teaching and service. The Department, which currently has four faculty members, grants a Master of Health Sciences degree in Clinical Rehabilitation and Counseling.  LSUHSC and the greater New Orleans metropolitan area offer a broad range of opportunities for collaborative research and service.

The LSUHSC SAHP is part of the New Orleans Biomedical District, which includes the new University Medical Center, the new Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in New Orleans, the Louisiana Cancer Research Center, and the New Orleans BioInnovation Center.
