Assistant Professor of Practice
Counseling Program
The University of Arizona is pleased to announce an opening for an Assistant Professor of Practice (Non-Tenure Track) with a start date of August 2015. The program offers a Master's Degree in Counseling with specializations in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling. The rehabilitation and mental health specialization is accredited by the Council of Rehabilitation Education (CORE), and both specialization programs are currently being reviewed by the Council on Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) for accreditation in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling (Mental Health Counseling) and School Counseling.
The program is housed in the Department of Disability and Psychoeducational Studies within the College of Education. The program is growing and is fully committed to playing a key role in addressing the needs of school districts, rehabilitation services, and mental health services in the surrounding community. Faculty members are all experienced clinicians and are dedicated to providing excellent training to future counselors.
Individuals who apply should be committed to providing outstanding instruction to a diverse student body, and should be familiar with using technology effectively and serving distance students. We seek individuals who bring energy and a deep commitment to academic excellence, within the scholar-practitioner tradition. We are particularly interested in candidates who are able to work with diverse students, stakeholders, and colleagues, and who have experience and credentials in mental health counseling.
Tucson is both culturally diverse, rich in natural beauty, and home to many recreational resources, such as hundreds of miles of hiking trails, bike lanes, and park space.
