> Each year, the Athens City Commission on Disabilities sponsors “Challenged by Choice” and “Disabilities Speaks” to bring greater awareness to the issues those who live with a disability face every day. This Thursday, April 16, several community and university leaders, and students, will take on a disability and return to their places of work, or school, to go through their regular schedule – with an assigned disability.

> Then on Thursday from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Athens Community Center on East State Street, those who were “challenged” will come together in a Forum called “Disabilities Speak” to talk about their experiences. The keynote speaker will be Dr. J. W. Smith, associate professor of Communication Studies, who also lives with blindness. The list of participants to be “challenged” is below, and the event is free and open to the public. Pizza and refreshments will be served.
