POSITION: Tenure-Track (Probationary*)



DATE OF APPOINTMENT: August 17, 2015



RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary responsibilities include teaching, supervision, advising masters and doctoral students, faculty committees, scholarly activities, continued professional development, and community service. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in family counseling, group counseling, mental health counseling practicum/internship, assessment/treatment planning, human growth and development, basic and advanced counseling skills, and other core department courses.



REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  *   Doctorate from a CACREP accredited institution in Counselor Education or a closely related field, conferred on an official transcript by August 15, 2016.
  *   Current Minnesota license as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor or Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, within 18 months of appointment.
  *   Clinical experience and demonstrated background in mental health counseling and supervision.
  *   Competency in assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, counseling couples, families and children in agency and/or private practice settings.



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  *   Demonstrated potential for effective teaching.
  *   Demonstrated potential to conduct counseling research and develop a research agenda.
  *   Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative setting.
  *   Graduate level teaching experience.
  *   Ability to contribute to department initiatives.
  *   Ability to integrate technology into the curriculum.
  *   Experience addressing mental health issues that impact children, adolescents, older adults, and their families.
  *   Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.





ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The Counseling & Student Personnel department at Minnesota State University, Mankato offers Master of Science programs that prepare graduates for licensure and professional practice in mental health counseling, school counseling, and college student affairs. The department also offers a Doctor of Education program in counselor education and supervision. The CSP department had the first program in the Upper Midwest to be fully accredited by the Council for the Accreditation for Counseling and Related Educational Programs (1986). All degree programs are currently CACREP-accredited: MS-Mental Health Counseling, MS-Professional School Counseling, MS-College Student Affairs, and EdD-Counselor Education and Supervision.
