> The National Rehabilitation Association is pleased to announce its 35th Annual Government Affairs Summit which will be held on Sunday, March 22, continuing on Monday, March 23, and culminating on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, with "NRA's Day on the Hill."
> The 35th Annual Government Affairs Summit will have several themes, including:
> -- An in-depth discussion of the forthcoming Federal regulations which will guide the ultimate implementation of and provide Congressional intent to the re-authorization of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended;
> -- A Panel of Practitioners in the Rehabilitation field and others which will discuss the future of rehabilitation counseling and training in this country;
> -- A celebration and discussion of the 25th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the landmark civil rights law which focused on full accessibility for all in the forefront of the American conscience; and
> -- An examination and an in-depth discussion of how the changes to the Rehabilitation Act will affect the re-authorization of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), with a focus on personnel standards for qualified special education teachers; among other issues of importance to Americans with disabilities.
> -- An enhanced session on the Art of Advocacy, including a discussion of the changes in the Senate where all Chairmanships and the Leadership will change with the Republicans gaining control of the Senate.
> As a result of Tuesday's election (with three Senate races yet to be definitively determined), the ratio of Republicans to Democrats stands at 52 to 45, at the time of this report.
> And, in the U.S. House of Representatives where Republicans increased their majority, the ratio of Republicans to Democrats stands at 243-177 at the time of this report.
> The lame duck session of Congress begins on Wednesday, November 12, 2014.
