The UWRF School Counseling Program invites doctoral students to review the job posting below. We are conducting a search to fill a tenure-track, Assistant Professor position in our school counseling program, with a start date of August 25, 2014. Deadline to apply is November 4, 2013.

The University of Wisconsin-River Falls (UWRF), a member of the University of Wisconsin System, is located on the eastern edge of the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area in scenic west central Wisconsin. The Position:

The University of Wisconsin – River Falls invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in School Counseling. The UWRF program trains school counselors only. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in Counselor Education, or anticipate degree completion within 12 months of hire, or otherwise meet CACREP core faculty eligibility requirements. The successful candidate will (1) teach 3 school counseling courses (9 credits) per semester (2) maintain an advising caseload of graduate students, (3) conduct program-related applied research and scholarly activities, (4) develop new curricula that may include on-line courses, and (5) be involved in departmental, college and university committees as well as community service. Experience as a school counselor and teaching experience at the college level is preferred. Candidates should have, or be eligible for, relevant counseling credentials (e.g., LPC, NCC, school counselor licensure).The position is a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position. Opportunities exist for optional summer employment through teaching, research grants, internship supervision and other funding sources. Appointment date: August 25, 2014.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Teaching Duties 100%

• Teach a full course load per semester (3 courses-9 credits)

• Advise students

• Supervise students in field placements including Practicum and Internship

• Collaborate with other faculty within the Program, Department, College and University

• Engage in professional and service activities on campus, locally, state-wide and nationally

• Attend Department and Program meetings

• Other activities as assigned

Qualifications Required:

• Must hold a doctoral degree in Counselor Education (preferably from a CACREP approved institution), or anticipate degree completion within 12 months of hire, or otherwise meet CACREP core faculty eligibility requirements.

• Demonstrated success or potential success for graduate level teaching.

• Strong oral and written communication skills.

• Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to diverse student populations and ability to contribute to the University's commitment to enhancing student awareness and appreciation of diverse cultures, backgrounds, and identities.

Qualifications Preferred:

• Experience as a school counselor with students from diverse backgrounds;

• Experience with diverse communities, knowledge of school issues, and an interest in collaborating with a variety of constituencies in rural, suburban, and urban environments;

• Experience connecting with stakeholders/resources in creating a vision for an academic Program and Department

• Commitment to the professional field of counselor education and school counseling as evidenced by education, teaching, school experience, research, community service and professional affiliations, such as ASCA, ACES, and ACA;

• Demonstrated success or potential for strong productivity in research, grant writing and scholarship exploring concerns related to issues in school counseling;

• Experience working with graduate students in instruction, advising, mentoring and research related activities;

• Experience in teaching core school counseling courses.
