[http://www.csi-net.org/resource/resmgr/webinars/webinar-2013-11-20.jpg]Dr. Janine M. Bernard will present the third webinar in CSI's Supervision Series this Wednesday, November 20, at 2 PM EST. Registration will close at noon EST.

Roles and tasks of supervisors are as complex as those of counselors in that there are many variables to consider when choosing to intervene with a supervisee. This webinar will offer a map to assist the supervisor in the assessment process. Assessment must include reflection on a variety of possible challenges to effective supervision when issues arise. Interventions that follow this careful process are more likely to be productive.

Dr. Bernard is Professor of Counseling and Counselor Education at Syracuse University. She is the author of the widely-used Discrimination Model of supervision and has published extensively in the area of clinical supervision.

Dr. June Williams will provide an overview of Pauline Boss’s concept of ambiguous loss and provide examples of how ambiguous loss may present itself in counseling. When discussing grief and loss, our focus is often on death-related loss. Ambiguous loss refers to situations where a loved one may be physically absent yet psychologically present, or physically present yet psychologically absent. Guidelines for helping clients adapt to the uncertainty and ambiguity will be provided as we journey with them to meaning-making and resilience. Dr. Williams is an Associate Professor of Counseling at Southeastern Louisiana University.

NBCC-approved CEU clock hours are free to CSI members who attend these one-hour webinars. Non-members may attend for a fee. Former members may renew for one year and attend all webinars at no charge.

If you attend the live webinar for at least 45 minutes, you will receive an email link to complete the evaluation survey. After you complete the survey, a CEU certificate will automatically be generated and available in your Member Profile on the CSI website.

Webinar recordings will be online within 72 hours for members to view at their convenience.
