Dissertation Research Award

Application Deadline: May 17, 2013

The AMHCA Foundation is sponsoring its first annual competition for dissertation research funding. This award program is designed to assist doctoral students in an accredited counseling program with research costs. A grant of $1,000 will be awarded to a student whose dissertation research reflects excellence in and furthers our knowledge of clinical mental health counseling. The awarded funds may be used for direct research expenses (e.g., computer time, equipment, participant fees and incentives), software, or conference travel. Funds may not be used for tuition, fees, or personal expenses.

Application Deadline: May 17, 2013
Award notification will take place before the 2013 AMHCA Annual Conference<http://cts.vresp.com/c/?AmericanMentalHealth/981e4c2f5d/8d23fb714b/8a59e9a174> (July 18-20).

Applicant Eligibility Requirements

1.     Applicant must be a graduate student in good standing in an accredited counseling program at a regionally accredited university or college in the United States. Applicant must be enrolled in school or working on his or her dissertation research.

2.     Applicant must be a student member of AMHCA. Students who are not members must apply for membership when submitting award applications. All materials must be received by the AMHCA in a single, complete package.

3.     Applicant's dissertation proposal must be approved prior to application by his or her dissertation committee.

4.     Applicants who have already defended their dissertations are eligible to apply for this award, as long as they have not yet received a doctoral degree as of the application deadline.

5.     Applicant must submit a recommendation from his or her dissertation chair.
