Assistant Professor School Counseling Program Track

The University of Cincinnati is currently accepting applications for a Tenure-track Assistant Professor of Counseling with specialization in School Counseling. Responsibilities include conducting scholarly research, publishing, and grant writing; teaching graduate coursework and supervision of field experiences aligned with the Program's ecological approach to practice; advising graduate students, guiding dissertation research and serving on doctoral committees; and collaborating with area schools/agencies. Additional responsibilities include program development within the overall Counseling Program, collaborating with other programs within Human Services, serving on Program, School, College and University committees, and other duties as assigned. The successful applicant will be expected to further the Program and University's excellence in research (involving external funding, publishing, presenting) and teaching (including the ability to teach a variety of graduate courses in counseling, both on-campus and online).

Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have an earned doctorate in Counseling (or anticipated completion by August, 2013) from a CACREP-accredited program, with a specialization in School Counseling. Applicants must demonstrate the potential to maintain an active program of scholarly research from an ecological perspective. Ideal candidates should have experience as a school counselor and use of evidence-based practices; and experience with and/or knowledge of culturally diverse populations and eligibility for Ohio Licensed School Counselor.

Based on the Carnegie Foundation Classification System, The University of Cincinnati (www.uc.edu<http://www.uc.edu>) is a Doctoral Granting Research University with Very High Research Activity (RU/VH).   It is part of Ohio's higher education system with approximately 41,500 students in attendance (8,000 graduate students). The Counseling Program is located within the School of Human Services in the College of Education, Criminal Justice and Human Services. The School also includes undergraduate and graduate programs in School Psychology, Health Promotion and Education, Substance Abuse Counseling, Athletic Training, and Sport Administration.  The School is a leader in online course and certificate development, and there are many active collaborative activities across programs. The Counseling Program offers M.A. (Mental Health Counseling, M.Ed. (School Counseling), and Ed D. (Counselor Education) degrees. All of the counseling degree programs are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Program (CACREP).  In addition, the Program offers an online graduate certificate in Substance Abuse Counseling. Nine full-time faculty are assigned to the Counseling Program.
