Dear Training Directors and Counselor Educators,

We are currently engaged in a research study that examines contextual and person factors that may impact social justice advocacy competence among female graduate trainees. We hope that the results will provide further evidence to extend emerging empirical research on social justice outcomes of counseling psychology female graduate trainees. The Internal Review Board at Lehigh University has approved this study (#13/128).

We would like to seek your assistance in forwarding this call for participation to your graduate trainees. We realize that time is of essence for both faculty and trainees in graduate programs. We are most appreciative of your help in this process.

Dear Trainee:
Social justice advocacy has become an increasingly important part of counselor development. There has been a call to integrate a social justice component into training programs and to expand therapists' roles beyond individual counseling. In this study, we hope to gain a better understanding of the relationship between contextual and person factors and female trainees' social justice behavior. The results of this study will provide further evidence for specific factors that can influence trainees' advocacy behavior.
We would like to invite you to participate in this study. We hope that this survey will allow you to reflect on your experience, beliefs, and attitudes related to social justice, multiculturalism and feminism. There are no anticipated risks associated with participation in this study. We anticipate that you will complete this survey in approximately 15-20 minutes.
We will maintain complete confidentiality regarding your data. No individual results will be reported. The completion of the questionnaire will constitute as your informed consent. Your participation is completely voluntary and you have the right to discontinue participation at any time by simply clicking out of the browser.
In order to participate, you must be a trainee, identify as female, in a counseling-related program (e.g. counseling psychology, clinical psychology, school counseling, marriage and family therapy, counselor education, etc.), and be 18 years of age or older. If you would like to participate in our study, you can access the survey at the following web address:

You may also forward this call to any female trainee who is currently in a graduate counseling-related training program and who may find this study of interest.
