Clinical Assistant Professor /Staff Therapist
The Family Institute at Northwestern University
The Family Institute is seeking a full-time, core faculty member to begin in the fall of 2013. This core faculty member will teach in the MA program and maintain a clinical caseload as a staff member of The Family Institute. The MA program is in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and has one specialization in Child Counseling.
Specific Responsibilities
Responsibilities include teaching courses in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and supervising students. The ideal candidate should have a background in psychodynamic theory, experience treating clients in a fee-for-service setting, and supervision experience. This is a full-time, 12 month position as a staff member of the Family Institute and a ranked (but not tenure-track) clinical faculty member in the psychology department of Northwestern University. Responsibilities of the position include a one-course per quarter teaching load, advising students, administrative responsibilities, supervising and maintaining a clinical caseload at the Family Institute.
Educational and Experiential Requirements and Credentials
An earned doctorate in Counselor Education (CACREP-accredited preferred), license eligibility as a mental health counselor in Illinois, graduate teaching experience and at least three- to five-years professional clinical experience.
Preferred Qualifications/Areas of Interest
Preference will be given to candidates who can teach courses related to research and program development, assessment, and theories. Candidates should also be skilled in working with a small interdisciplinary team. Experience treating couples and families using a systematic-based treatment model, a marketable clinical specialization and experience in an online teaching will be rated highly.
