Subject: Counselor Educator position open at Rhode Island College

Hello Colleagues

Join a forward-looking and collegial department in a well-regarded regional institution with great traditions and dynamic culture. The Greater Providence metropolitan area offers easy access to the East Coast cultural centers, ocean shore, parks and forests, and many options for urban or suburban life styles.

At Rhode Island College, we have a tenure track faculty position for an Assistant Professor in Counseling – beginning in fall 2013. I hope you will consider applying. Priority will be given to applications received before December 1, 2012. The job description ( available in our RIC HR search page at https://employment.ric.edu/ ) gives the details of the position. Let me tell you a little about our department.

We are a vibrant collection of faculty and value the interdisciplinary atmosphere that we have developed. Our department has only graduate programs and we prepare professionals in the areas of clinical mental health counseling, school counseling, school psychology, and educational leadership. The programs in our department enable students to become Rhode Island state certified school counselors, school psychologists, school principals, and Rhode Island licensed mental health counselors.

The mission of the Department is to prepare graduate students who positively impact lives of and opportunities for individuals, families, schools, and communities. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, community partnerships and excellence in teaching and scholarship, the CEP faculty foster the development of reflective practitioners. Our graduates are educators and human service professionals prepared to conduct ethical, culturally competent and evidence-based practice and are able to influence systemic change.

Our counseling programs have approximately 250 admitted candidates and we have 6 full time counseling faculty. Some of our current initiatives include a 3-year plan to seek CACREP accreditation, and expanding field-based opportunities for our students

If you have graduates or colleagues seeking a faculty position in the Northeast, I hope you will encourage them to contact us. Questions can be directed to me or any of the search committee members below
