The Old Dominion University Darden College of Education is inviting applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Counselor Education- Distance Learning position with an anticipated start date of July 25, 2013.

Duties

The individual selected for the Counselor Education Assistant/Associate professor Distance Learning position will be responsible for teaching two 3-credit courses per semester in the Counseling Distance Learning Program housed through the New College Institute. Additionally, he or she will be involved in advising distance learning graduate students, engaging in scholarship and external funding activities, providing leadership in the program, serving on dissertation committees in the Norfolk campus program, and serving in the community as well as state, regional, and/or national levels. The individual will be housed in Norfolk, VA.

Qualifications

Applicants for the Counselor Education Assistant/Associate professor distance learning position are required to have a doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited program as well as effective integration of technology in the instructional process. Preferred qualifications include evidence of scholarship; securing or applying for external funding for research and program development; university collaborative efforts involving public schools, postsecondary institutions, and/or agencies; full-time teaching experience; and developing and teaching online courses.

Further, the successful incumbent should have a demonstrated commitment to diversity and willing to participate in program governance and decision-making. Candidates who have experience with and/or a commitment to working in multicultural settings are preferred.

The Counseling Distance Learning program is part of the Department of Counseling and Human Services. The Counseling Distance Learning program offers a MSEd in Counseling with school and mental health counseling specialty areas.
