Counselor Education Faculty Position starting 2013-14

The Counselor Education Program housed in the School of Human Development and Organizational Studies in Education (HDSOE) in the College of Education at the University of Florida seeks to fill a tenure track position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. The Counselor Education program is nationally-ranked and fully accredited by CACREP.  Salary and terms of appointment are commensurate with qualifications and include a 9-month salary and benefits package.

The Counselor Education program has 7 full-time faculty members and offers 72-semester hour MEd/EdS programs in school counseling, mental health counseling, couple and family counseling, and a Ph.D. in counseling and counselor education. All master's and doctoral programs are full-time, and are CACREP accredited. The Counselor Education program has been ranked consistently in the Top 10 in the U.S. News and World Report rankings. Faculty engage in research, teaching, advising doctoral and master's students, and providing service to the counseling profession. Program faculty are committed to preparing counseling professionals who operate from ecosystemic and social justice perspectives and are seeking a counselor educator who shares their commitment to scholarship, cultural diversity, social justice, and international outreach.

This tenure-track position provides a start-up package including reduced initial teaching, service, and advising loads, as well as computer and technology resources. The College of Education (COE) has a designated Office of Educational Research to provide extensive support for grant writing and research. Merit, promotion, and tenure considerations are based primarily on scholarly productivity, excellence in teaching, participation in service to the college and the field, and procurement of external funding.

Each successful candidate is expected to provide evidence of all of the following minimum qualifications:

*         Doctorate in Counselor Education (preferably from a CACREP-accredited program), or doctorate in a related field with employment as a faculty member in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year

*         Evidence of scholarly productivity and a strong potential for securing external funding

*         Active research agenda focusing on current trends in the counseling profession (e.g., substance abuse, trauma/PTSD, counseling military families, achievement gap in K-12 schools, technology-assisted interventions, and/or evidence-based interventions)

*         Evidence of professional service at university, state, and national levels

*         Professionalism and collegiality

*         License or/certification eligible in Florida as a school counselor, mental health or marriage and family counselor

 Preferred qualifications include:

*         Evidence of collaboration/partnerships/scholarship with other disciplines, schools, or the community

*         Knowledge and experience with developing program resources through contracts, grant-writing, and other related activities

*         Three years of effective teaching in a CACREP-accredited program in Counselor Education

*         Enthusiasm and commitment to advising and teaching in doctoral education

*         Teaching experience with on-line and other technology-assisted instruction
