Qualifications:     
	Earned doctorate in Counselor Education, School Counseling, OR related field.
	Credential-eligible for PPS in School Counseling in CA.
	Candidates with background in school counseling are encouraged to apply.
	Successful professional experience working with children, families, schools, 
and/or community mental health as a counselor/therapist.
	Demonstrated commitment to teach, advise, and mentor students from diverse 
populations.
	Potential to make significant scholarly and professional contributions in area 
of specialty.
	Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with colleagues and 
between the specialty program and the department, university, and local 
community.

CSUN is a Learning-Centered University. The successful candidate will be 
expected to join faculty and staff in a commitment to active learning, to the 
assessment of learning outcomes, and to multiple pathways that enable students 
to graduate. 

Evidence of degree(s) required at time of hire.

Desired:
	Evidence of successful teaching in a graduate-level counseling program.
	Counseling, leadership, and applied skills sufficient to teach practicum 
courses in school counseling. 
	Experience and training with technology and assessment in higher education and 
professional settings.
	Research, publications, or equivalent professional contributions in area(s) of 
specialty.
	Experience in program advisement, planning, and development and supervision of 
fieldwork and graduate theses/projects.
	Candidates with experience and training/licensure/credentials in both school 
counseling and marriage and family therapy or mental health counseling.. 
	Within two years of hire, eligible for CA Credential in Pupil Personnel 
Services; Licensure as Marriage and Family Therapist and/or as a Licensed 
Professional Clinical Counselor.

Responsibilities:  
	Teach core and specialty courses in school counseling.
	Educate and train counselors who can effectively work with diverse populations 
and collaborate with other professionals. 
	Participate in program development, coordination, and evaluation. Recruit, 
advise, and mentor students.
	Chair thesis/project/comprehensive examination committees.
	Conduct and publish research in area(s) of specialty..
	Remain current in field(s) of specialty through on-going professional 
development.
	Provide curriculum development, recruitment, student advisement and mentoring, 
thesis advisement, and leadership for part-time instructors. 
	Participate in faculty governance for the Program, Department, College, and 
University. 
	Prepare students for careers in professional school counseling, including 
obtaining credential.
	Supervise school counseling student interns in fieldwork experience.

Program is also accredited by the California Commission on Teacher 
Credentialing.
