Position Available:    Assistant/Associate Professor of Counselor Education (tenure line)
Beginning:                  January 2013 or Fall 2013
Appointment Conditions:
The College of Education at Penn State seeks to strengthen its faculty in the area of Counselor Education and is particularly interested in identifying candidates with interests and expertise in either school counseling or mental health prevention/intervention in communities and schools.
 Applicants should have a record promising success in teaching, supervision, and research, along with a primary professional identity as a counselor educator (graduate of a CACREP-accredited doctoral program preferred). Applicants seeking appointment at the Associate Professor rank should have demonstrated competence in the aforementioned areas.
This is a tenure track, 36-week appointment with possibility of supplementary summer appointments in research and/or teaching.  Full University benefits apply. Penn State has a strong commitment to the diversity of its workforce. We encourage applications from individuals of diverse backgrounds.
 Responsibilities:

 *   Engage in research, writing, and other scholarly activities in counselor education, with an emphasis on issues involving school counseling or mental health prevention/intervention in communities and schools;
 *   Teach graduate courses in Counselor Education and advise students in M.Ed. and Ph.D. programs;
 *   Pursue individually or with others relevant externally funded research;
 *   Provide service, outreach, and leadership to Counselor Education.
 Required Qualifications

 *   Earned doctorate in counselor education or closely related field.
 *   Eligible for appropriate Counselor license and/or certification.

 *   Evidence of potential for scholarship relevant to counselor education related issues.
 *   Demonstrated commitment to teaching and advising students, including through the use of modern distance education technologies.
 *   Demonstrated experience and commitment to working with diverse populations.
 *   Demonstrated commitment to collegiality and collaboration.
 *   Demonstrated professional leadership.
Desirable Qualifications

 *   Experience advising and teaching in counselor education.
 *   Experience in securing external funding.

Penn State Counselor Education began in 1958, and since that time has maintained consistent top 10 national rankings in US NEWS AND WORLD REPORT reflecting the program's national recognition of faculty providing the highest quality training, scholarship, and professional leadership.
