Call for Submissions

The Journal of Counseling Research and Practice (JCRP), is requesting the submission of manuscripts for the November 2012 publication.

The JCRP is an annual peer-reviewed journal, published by the Mississippi Counseling Association (MCA), with the goal of blending the science of counseling and practice. The JCRP readership includes counselors, counselor educators, and students. In addition to professional counselor and counselor educators, we greatly encourage submissions from graduate students.

We are interested in manuscripts that address:
1. Practical and unique applications of counseling theories or techniques 2. Significant quantitative and qualitative research 3. Critical integrations of recently published research

All manuscripts should be written using Microsoft Word and should be submitted via email. Manuscripts should not exceed 5,000 words. The format of manuscripts is as follows:

1. Research section: Manuscripts should include a brief introduction; a condensed review of relevant literature; a detailed methodology section; results; discussion; and implications for counseling practice. Please be sure to report effect size for quantitative manuscripts.

2. Practice section: Manuscripts should include a theoretical overview; report on or describe new practices, experimental programs, or innovative techniques; provide any research relative to the theory/technique; and provide implications for counseling practice.

3. Reviews: We encourage reviews of a new book, recent article in a professional journal, new test, or inventory.

Manuscripts should be appropriate for our readership, relevant to the research and practice of counseling, and meet the submission requirements.

Author guidelines, manuscript submission forms, and detailed information regarding the submission and editorial process can be found on our website: http://www.jcrponline.org/

The 2011 edition is available through the EBSCOhost database and MCA members can view the all previous editions at the MCA website.

The deadline for submissions is June 15, 2012.

Manuscripts submitted not meeting the above requirements will not be considered for review. For technical help with the submission process, please contact Walter Frazier at jcrp at mc.edu.
