OSCA is now accepting applications for the Emerging Leader Program for the 2012-2013 year. The goal of the Emerging Leaders Program is to identify potential leaders within the school counseling profession in Ohio and to provide them with opportunities to become involved with OSCA.

The deadline for submission has been extended this year and applications must be postmarked by April 13, 2012.
To qualify, emerging leaders must:
* Be a member of both the Ohio School Counselor Association and the American School Counselor Association
* Be employed as a professional school counselor in Ohio (possess a valid license and is employed by a school district)
* Not be (or have been) an appointed or elected officer of OSCA
* Have a desire to further the mission and vision of OSCA through professional advocacy and leadership
If selected, emerging leaders will be asked to complete at least four of the seven activities listed below:
* Join and participate on an OSCA standing committee
* Present (co-present) in at least one session at either the All Ohio Counselors Conference or at a District workshop
* Attend at least one OSCA Governing Board meeting
* Submit an article for publication in the OSCA newsletter (The Advocate)
* Attend an affiliate meeting (OCA, OACAC, OACES, etc.)
* Work at the All Ohio Counselors Conference
* Provide assistance at an OSCA event
The OSCA emerging leader(s) will receive the following benefits:
* Free OSCA membership for one year
* Leadership training
* Assigned a Governing Board mentor
* Access to a network of colleagues
* Opportunity to earn contact hours for one’s independent professional development plan
Individuals interested in becoming an Emerging Leader must submit a letter of interest, resume, a letter of support from his/her supervisor or principal and a letter of recommendation from an OSCA member. Applications are to be sent to the OSCA Past-President and must be postmarked by April 13, 2012.
