Subject: Graduate Student Orientation, August 23, 2012



Dear Associate Deans, Graduate Chairs, and Program Contacts, 
 
The graduate student orientation hosted by the Graduate College will take place on Thursday, August 23rd, 2012. This event will begin at 10 am in the Baker Center Ball Room. The morning session that goes from 10 am to noon will focus on general information about being a graduate student at Ohio University. From 1pm to 3 pm we will offer breakout sessions on topics like Information Technology, Blackboard, Research Ethics, Grants and Professional development, Ohio Residency, Electronic Thesis and dissertations, Library services and many more. These sessions will be offered in the various conference rooms on the second floor. Students who have graduate appointments will also have the opportunity to complete employment paper work from 3pm to 5 pm in the Ball Room.
                 
I have attached a spreadsheet that contains information about the various orientation events taking place on campus. This information will be available on our website shortly. I will send you another email in August (as a reminder about this event), and will also include any updates as well about the day of in that email. 
 
Please encourage your students to attend the graduate student orientation. If you have any questions please contact Marnie Miller (millerm6 at ohio.edu).
