COUNSED 734/ Families: Assessment & Treatment of Abusive Behaviors/ 3 cr.

This is a professional course in counseling designed for individuals seeking advanced training in assessment and treatment of abusive family systems. This course will elaborate on child abuse, neglect, and physical and sexual abuse and its impact on the individual and the family. The course will examine family dynamics which contribute to the development of an abusive system and those that provide protection against abuser and/or enhance the effective processing of trauma,
Set in the historical Dalkeith House, or "Palace" as the locals refer to it, "Experience Scotland" provides a rich, cultural immersion with the comfort and safety of an organized and well-staffed international learning community
The WIS program fee for Summer 2012 is contingent upon the number of courses, or modules, you enroll in.  COUNSED 734 would be one module, 3 weeks, and cost $1,800 for graduate students ($1650 plus an additional $50per credit as a graduate student).  The WIS fee for summer session includes tuition, shared  room, meals (continental breakfast every day and lunch four days per week) while school is in session, ground transportation between the airport and Dalkeith House, bus pass, CISI insurance and official field trips. Those who do not reside in Wisconsin have an additional $200 fee.

Items not covered in base fees are: airfare ($800-$1350 round trip), passport fees, damage and work deposits, required textbooks, campus program fee, supplementary textbooks and supplies, special class fees and/or other personal expenses, personal/misc. fees (i.e. travel not related to program) and a refundable damage deposit of $100.
Students are required to obtain (purchase, rent, borrow, etc.) the necessary textbooks.
