Two (2) Tenure Track Positions
The Department of Clinical and Professional Studies in the College of Education at the University of West Georgia invites dynamic applicants to join our rapidly-growing, CACREP-accredited Counselor Education Program with an M.Ed. in Professional Counseling (School, Community, and College Student Affairs), an Ed.S. in Professional Counseling, and an Ed.D. in Professional Counseling and Supervision. The College of Education at the University of West Georgia is doctoral granting and NCATE-accredited, a recognized leader in preparing exemplary practitioners for all educational roles. The College offers high-level technological support, mentoring for new faculty, and opportunities to work with graduate students at all levels and to partner with school districts. The University of West Georgia, one of Georgia’s four robust-tier universities, is a rapidly growing institution located approximately 50 minutes west of Atlanta. Our 645-acre campus offers modern, state-of-the-art facilities complemented by beautiful green spaces. It ranks as one of the Southeast’s best public regional comprehensive universities.
Position Description
The successful candidates will assume a range of responsibilities including (1) teaching graduate courses that include on-line instruction; (2) conducting meaningful research and scholarship; (3) participating in broad-based university, college, and departmental committee work and professional service; (4) advising students; (5) supervising students in field experiences in various school and community settings; and (6) working collaboratively with the doctoral program in Professional Counseling and Supervision, as well as the doctoral program in School Improvement, both in the College of Education. Required Qualifications
Earned doctorate in Counseling or Counselor Education (preferably from a CACREP-accredited program)
Licensed/certified or license-eligible as a professional counselor or professional school counselor in Georgia
A minimum of 3 years counseling experience in school or community settings
Evidence of successful teaching experience
Experience with technology and/or online teaching in educational settings
Established or developing research agenda
Established or developing record of service
Interest and ability in working with doctoral and graduate programs
Must be able to maintain an active career balanced across the areas of teaching, scholarship, and service
Preferred Qualifications
Commitment to or experience with:
· Delivering and developing on-line instruction
· Working collaboratively across disciplines at the department level
· Serving on and/or chairing doctoral dissertation committees
· Securing external funding and managing projects
