Appalachian State University, Assistant Professor Position, Beginning date January 2013 or August 2013

The Department of Human Development and Psychological Counseling (HPC) at Appalachian State University invites applications for a tenure-track nine-month faculty position at the rank of assistant professor beginning January 2013 or August 2013 depending on applicant availability. The requirements for the position are a doctorate in counselor education and supervision, preferably from a CACREP accredited program, and all doctoral requirements must be completed before beginning employment. 

Instructional duties will include teaching Development Assessment and Diagnosis (DSM), Legal/Ethical Issues, Testing, Internship and other CMHC courses. Qualifications include: full-time professional counseling experience, strong clinical and supervisory experience, and eligibility to become a NC Licensed Professional Counselor. Faculty members are expected to maintain an active program of scholarship as well as participate in service activities.

HPC offers MA programs in professional school counseling, marriage and family therapy, clinical mental health counseling and college student development, in addition to certificate programs in expressive arts therapy and addictions counseling. There are 16 full-time faculty members and 175 graduate students. 

Appalachian State University is a member institution of the sixteen-campus University of North Carolina. 
Located in Boone, North Carolina, the university has approximately 15,000 students, primarily bachelors and masters programs in both liberal arts and applied fields.
