The Psychology Department is hosting a colloquium entitled "Couples Coping with Breast Cancer: Maintaining Intimacy During Adversity - A Daily Diary Approach"  by Dr. Jean-Philippe Laurenceau.  The colloquium will be presented on Friday, February 20, from noon-1pm in Porter Hall 102.

We thought some of the people in Counseling might be interested in attending.  Details are below, and a flyer and the speaker's CV are attached:

The Psychology Department is hosting a colloquium entitled "Couples Coping with Breast Cancer: Maintaining Intimacy During Adversity - A Daily Diary Approach"  by Dr. Jean-Philippe Laurenceau.  The colloquium will be presented on Friday, February 20, from noon-1pm in Porter Hall 102.

Abstract:
Recent theoretical and empirical work has pointed to the potentially important role that intimate relationship processes have for psychological adjustment and adaptation to cancer. In this talk, I report on data obtained using dyadic intensive longitudinal methods to uncover processes that facilitate intimacy (e.g., spousal support provision) versus hinder intimacy (e.g., pain, spousal constraints) within the context of couples coping with breast cancer in everyday life.
