MALONE UNIVERSITY
FACULTY POSITION DESCRIPTION
COUNSELING AND HUMAN DEVELOPMENT - Clinical Counseling Emphasis
Position:          Tenure track, graduate faculty position
Starting Date:  August 2012

Responsibilities:

*         Teach graduate level courses with students from both School and Clinical Counseling programs

*         Normal teaching load is 12 credits per semester/three graduate courses

*         Teach core curriculum area courses such as Theories and Techniques of Counseling, Human Growth and Development, Foundations in Clinical Counseling, Tests and Appraisals, and Career and Lifestyle Counseling, along with courses specific to the candidate's expertise.

*         Advise and mentor students

*         Serve on departmental, school, and institutional committees

*         Engage in community service and scholarship
Required Qualifications:

*         Hold a Doctorate or have completed all requirements except for the dissertation, preferably from a CACREP accredited institution in Counselor Education.

*         Be licensed as professional counselor or provide written proof of eligibility for licensure by the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board

*         Demonstrated clinical counseling expertise

*         Demonstrate proficiency in the use of technology

*         Demonstrate ability to work with diverse student populations

*         Demonstrated commitment to cross-cultural curricula

*         Demonstrate effective communication and leadership skills

*         Demonstrate an articulate and informed understanding of current issues facing professional counselors and related professional challenges and changes in the field of  counseling

*         Deep, personal commitment to Jesus Christ and an understanding of and commitment to the integration of faith and learning in the academic discipline
Preferred Qualifications:

*         A minimum of three years of post-graduate clinical counseling experience

*         Masters and/or doctoral  training at an institution outside of Ohio

*         Ability to conduct scholarly research, publish and perform service

*         Graduate teaching experience, as the primary or sole instructor, in counselor education

*         Demonstrate Experience in working with multi-culturally diverse clientele and students

*         Experience in teaching utilizing distance education and related technology
Departmental Information:
The Counseling and Human Development programs include the Clinical Counseling program which is approved by the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board, and our School Counseling program, which is approved by the Ohio Department of Education as well as a master's program in Classroom-Based Counseling and Advocacy.  Programs current enrollment is over 160 degree and/or license seeking graduate students.  CACREP accreditation is currently in its final stages.
Malone University:
            Malone University is a Christian university for the arts, sciences and professions, in the
            liberal arts tradition.  The University is affiliated with the Evangelical Friends Church -
            Eastern  Region.  The students, faculty and staff represent more than 35 denominations.
            Total enrollment is approximately 2,600 students with 1,500 undergraduates as well as
            adult degree-completion programs and graduate programs offering 5 master's degrees.
