The Counseling Program is seeking applications for a full-time,
nine-month, tenure-track, position at the rank of Assistant Professor.
The College of Education and Social Services at the University of Vermont
seeks to create a more humane and socially just society, free from
oppression, which fosters respect for ethnic and cultural diversity and
makes a difference in lives of individuals, families, and communities.

Established in 1791, the University of Vermont is a major research
university located in the state's largest city- Burlington - the nations "#1
Smallest Big City" and ranked #1 "for outside activities, arts and
entertainment, safety, and overall quality of life." We enjoy a progressive
economy, excellent school systems, a dynamic and stimulating cultural
scene, and a vibrant and diverse social life. UVM overlooks beautiful Lake
Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains and is 30 minutes from major
ski areas, 1.5 hours from Montréal, and 3.5 hours from Boston.

Responsibilities will include teaching a broad spectrum of graduate
courses, supervising internships, advising students, pursuing a sustained
program of scholarship leading to tenure and promotion, professional
service, and developing a vigorous sponsored research program. The
Program offers a Masters of Science degree and is accredited in Mental
Health Counseling and School Counseling.

Required Qualifications: Applicants must have an earned doctorate in
counselor education, counseling psychology, or a closely related discipline.
In addition, the successful candidate must have recent graduate teaching
experience, demonstrated interest and promotion of translational/crossdisciplinary
research, and an understanding of neural development and
brain structure/functioning and its effects on development and school
performance. Preference will be given to applicants from CACREP
accredited doctoral programs and applicants with school counseling
experience and demonstrated commitment to social justice and cultural
fluency.
