Lenoir-Rhyne University opens the Asheville Center for Graduate Studies in August 2012. The Center will be located in a state-of-the-art facility near the heart of one of the nation’s most beautiful and prosperous cities. It will provide students from across the region affordable, quality graduate education emphasizing professional preparation through excellent teaching and mentoring. Over the next several years, the University intends to develop multiple graduate and/or professional programs to be offered through the Center.
The College of Education and Human Services seeks applications for a non-tenure track, continuing appointment in the School of Counseling and Human Services at the Assistant Professor rank to serve as its first full-time faculty member in the new Center. Appointment is based in Asheville and begins August 2012. The position will teach graduate courses and carry an 18 hour load (nine hours per term) each year. Terminal degree in Counseling and/or Counselor Education is required (CACREP institution preferred). Preferred candidates will possess the credentials and experience to offer courses in school counseling and/or clinical mental health counseling. Evidence of exemplary college teaching experience is strongly preferred. Familiarity with and willingness for developing and delivering courses utilizing online and other non-traditional pedagogies is required. Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to grow enrollments for this new endeavor and develop strong partnerships with clinical placement sites in the field. Successful candidates will display a commitment and capacity for teaching excellence, student mentorship, and scholarly and professional engagement.
