Dear friends,

I have attached a flyer about the upcoming film being shown this Sunday, June 5 at 2:00 pm at Memorial Auditorium.  The film, entitled The Passageway, was directed and produced by O.U. Media Arts students, with whom our organization has been working.  Appalachian Community provided as consultants Dr. Tracy Marx and Milena Miller, who helped to coordinate location, props, and information about hospice.  Inspiration for this film came from the play, Confessions of A Reluctant Caregiver, by Merri Biechler.  There is no charge for this film, which runs about
75 minutes.

The story covers the caregiving experience of a woman who cares first for her mother, then, several years later, for her father; the two caregiving experiences and use of hospice are quite different, reflecting the different ideas and feelings about one's own dying experience.

Please tell your friends about this film and we hope to see you there. 
It has been a wonderful experience collaborating with these students, and a great opportunity for us to have important end-of-life conversations.
