Subject: NEW: Tenure Track Position - University of North Florida

Associate or Assistant Professor in School Counseling

Department of Leadership, School Counseling, and Sport Management

University of North Florida

The University of North Florida (UNF) is seeking an Associate or Assistant Professor of Counselor Education to join the SOAR (Supporters of Academic Rigor) School Counseling Program faculty. The fact that we are being supported to search for a position out of the usual search cycle is indicative of the level of support the school counseling program enjoys at UNF. The position is a tenure-track, full-time faculty appointment. Summer contracts are separate and offered when available.

The SOAR School Counseling Program in the UNF College of Education and Human Services is a CACREP-accredited, stand-alone, school counseling program. SOAR School Counseling is an innovative program that prepares school counseling students to be educational leaders, student advocates, and change agents in many school settings, but with a particular emphasis on urban schools. The courses in our program are specially designed for school counselor preparation and this preparation has at its foundation commitments to pedagogical innovation, community-based instruction and collaboration, social justice, and educational equity.

Required qualifications for the position include:

* Doctorate conferred by August 1, 2011, in counselor education or closely related field

* At least two years of successful prior experience as a school counselor, supervisor of guidance, and/or state department guidance director

* The demonstration of a clear vision for scholarship/research

* An understanding of and commitment to the principles of social justice and educational equity

Preferred qualifications for the position include:

* Doctorate degree from a CACREP accredited institution in counselor education

* Strong teaching and research skills

* An active research agenda with evidence of scholarly productivity and publications

Responsibilities include teaching, research, advising, curriculum development, and professional service.

The salary range is negotiable, depending upon qualifications and experience. The starting date is August 1, 2011. Initial review of applications will begin April 15, 2011. The position is open until filled. This is a preliminary announcement. This position was just approved. It takes about two weeks to get the online application process activated. When activated you can apply at http://www.unfjobs.org. You must submit all required documents in order for us to be able to consider your application.

UNF is an Equal Opportunity/Equal Access/Affirmative Action Institution.
