School Counseling Program - Senior Counselor Educator



Slippery Rock University invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Department of Counseling and Development's School Counseling program at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank beginning Fall, 2011.



Slippery Rock University is a mid-size public institution approximately 45 minutes north of Pittsburgh, PA. The Department of Counseling and Development offers master's degree programs in School Counseling, Community Counseling, and Student Affairs in Higher Education, each of which is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). Responsibilities include assuming leadership of the CACREP accredited School Counseling program, graduate level teaching, committee service and scholarly activity.  Teaching may include but is not limited to master's level courses in the areas of School Counseling, Career Development, Group Counseling, Assessment, Social and Cultural Diversity, and Field Supervision. The position includes the possibility of undergraduate teaching. Research area of specialization is open.



Required



Doctorate in Counselor Education or closely related field.

Significant leadership experience in a graduate school counseling program.

Graduate level university teaching experience

Professional Counselor License or School Counseling Certification.

The candidate must demonstrate a commitment to the education of diverse populations.

Successful performance in an on-campus interview, including teaching demonstration is required.

Perceived ability to work productively with students and colleagues is required.



Preferred

Experience implementing Pennsylvania Department of Education regulations for school counseling certification.

Significant experience providing direct counseling and consultation services in a community or school setting.

Doctoral degree granted from a CACREP accredited program.

Clear record of scholarly work and involvement in appropriate professional organizations.
