Assistant Professor in Counselor Education and Supervision

The Department of Educational and Counseling Psychology (ECPY) is inviting applications for a tenure track assistant professor position in Counselor Education and Supervision. The preferred candidate is expected to have a school counseling background and play an integral role in our masters program in School Counseling and our growing doctoral program in Counselor Education and Supervision.

Our multifaceted department serves a wide variety of students and provides a rich opportunity for collaboration with faculty, students, and community professionals. The Louisville metro area, including its large urban school system, supports our mission of community advocacy, engagement, and collaborative research. The candidate will join the department in its commitment to continued growth and development; including acquiring CACREP accreditation for our Ph.D. program in Counselor Education and Supervision and our master's programs in School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

Other cities within easy driving range include Chicago, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Lexington, Nashville, and St. Louis.

Minimum Qualifications
A doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP accredited program is required. The candidate must have a strong commitment to teaching, scholarship, university and community service, and diversity. The candidate should also have knowledge of current national counselor training standards (ASCA & CACREP).

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will have a background in school counseling and will teach graduate courses in the areas of learning systems theory and practice, assessment methods for counselors, and other related courses in school counseling.  The candidate should have an evolving research agenda evident through journal publications, conference presentations, and/or other forms of scholarly writing. Additionally, the candidate should have experience working in schools and with diverse populations.

Salary: Competitive, based upon qualifications and experience

Appointment: 10-month with possibility of summer teaching

Beginning Date: Fall 2012
