Hello all,

Please find details below about our new tenure-track position in The Department of Counselor Education at The University of Montana.

The Department of Counselor Education is located in the Phyllis J. Washington College of Education and Human Sciences. The Department currently has four-fulltime faculty and has recently been given authorization to hire a fifth faculty member for the Department. The Department grants CACREP-approved master’s degrees in School and Mental Health Counseling. It has a small doctoral program in Counselor Education and Supervision. In addition to its degrees in Professional Counseling, the Department houses the Intercultural Youth and Family Development master’s degree. This degree prepares students for international and domestic service, such as service in the Peace Corps. This position will teach, advise and supervise IYFD and Counseling students with a 3+2 teaching load. Specific courses are negotiable and depend on successful candidate and current faculty qualifications and interests. The University of Montana is located in Missoula, Montana and is home to over 14,000 students. Missoula is a town of about 80,000 in the Northern Rockies that has something for everyone: outdoor adventure, fantastic natural beauty, a lively and artistic culture, several farmers markets, civic engagement, and numerous excellent restaurants. It was named first in an article entitled “50 Best Places to Live” for cities under 100,000.

Required:
·         Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision
·         International service experience, such as Peace Corps, and/or evidence of research and scholarly interest in international or intercultural work
·         License eligible in School or Clinical Mental Health Counseling in Montana
·         Evidence of excellent graduate supervision and teaching experience
 Preferred Qualifications:
·         Graduation from a CACREP-approved program
·         Evidence of social justice and human rights advocacy
·         Teaching or school counseling experience in K-12 or early childhood education
·         Evidence of successful grant writing
