DUTIES:(The duties described reflect the full performance level of this position)

This position is located at a Forest Service Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Guidance Counselor, providing the full range of general educational and career development counseling to Job Corps students. This position is responsible for coordinating the counseling program which includes vocational, educational, and personal/social adjustment counseling. Assesses individual capabilities and education needs. Counsels participants on available education and training opportunities, in establishing education and occupational goals, and to develop vocational or educational plans to achieve goals. Provides information and planning services concerning available options, resources, and methods for meeting educational and vocational goals. Career development counseling includes consideration of the total individual student's potential, Center Career Development Plan, and the subsequent student career plans and goals. Monitors progress of students to insure educational and vocational progress toward career goals.
