The summer is quickly coming to an end, which means OSCA is getting ready to welcome all our members back for another school year.  OSCA is now seeking article submissions from our members for the 2011 Back to School edition of the OSCA Advocate newsletter.

Please consider submitting your papers, ideas or proposals to the Advocate. Each issue strives to provide information on legal and ethical issues, advocacy, current trends, student perspectives and articles from professionals in the field. This is a great opportunity to be published in a professional journal. OSCA considers all manuscripts. Please contact advocate at ohioschoolcounselor.org<mailto:advocate at ohioschoolcounselor.org> with manuscripts, ideas or questions.  THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION FOR THE BACK TO SCHOOL EDITION IS AUGUST 10, 2011!

In addition, OSCA is seeking article submissions for a special edition of the Advocate that will come out this fall strictly devoted to college advising, planning and readiness.  This edition is being made possible by a grant from the Ohio Board of Regents.  We are looking for articles from professionals in the field highlighting best practices with college advising.  Topics can be related to advising, college planning, financial aid and scholarships, college visits, mentoring, working with parents, working with at-risk populations, etc.  OSCA is especially interested in articles from our elementary and middle school counselors that focus on college advising programs and activities you do with these younger groups.
