POSITION AVAILABLE FOR BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SPECIALIST
* LICENSED PROFESSIONAL COUNSELOR (LPC)
* AVAILABLE TO DEPLOY TO THE MIDDLE EAST
The Behavioral Health Specialist reports to the HCSS-Iraq Program Manager and will be supervised by the Program Manager or, while performing field work, a site medical director.
The Behavioral Health Specialist will deliver services in one of three settings:
1.                    Field Health Unit
2.                    Small medical/trauma hospitals
3.                    Large medical/trauma hospital and assists in treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
At the direction of the Program Manager or a site medical director, the Behavioral Health Specialist plans, obtains resources, and conducts behavior heath programs and/or programs to:
·                       Educate the workforce about mood disorders (such as depression and anxiety),
·                       Provide anger management tools and techniques,
·                       Provide tools for managing marital and family issues from OCONUS work sites.
·                       Make recommendations to the PM/DPM to assist members of the workforce cope with the stress of OCONUS life.
The focus of the Behavioral Health Specialist is preventative care such as an education program, employee assistance and coaching to help those at-risk remain healthy and productive.
The Behavioral Health Specialist should preferably have extensive experience with varied treatment modalities (i.e., visualization, EFT, yoga, EMDR, etc) and incorporate that in behavioral health care practices.
For those with more chronic or acute behavioral needs, the Behavioral Health Specialist will work with allied providers, employees and families to provide care coordination and intensive or targeted care management to ensure that the supported workforce receives the most appropriate and most effective treatment.
All services shall be provided in accordance with established standards, principles and ethics of the profession, applicable professional specialty organizations, and the high-quality standard for which CHS is recognized.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATION, QUALIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE:
·                       Must be licensed, accredited or registered to practice counseling as required by country of residence/citizenship
·                       Must hold a professional counseling and/or psychology degree at Masters level
·                       Must have a minimum of 5 years of substantive experience delivering behavioral health programs
·                       Specialty and/or experience in trauma (PTSD, Acute Traumatic Stress)
·                       Experience with Military and/or Law Enforcement personnel and/or experience serving as or working with Army Mental Health Specialist (MOS 68X)
·                       Experience with Employee Assistance Program (EAP) type issues.
·                       Experience working in the Middle East or other third world country is a plus
·                       Ability to work independently
·                       Experience working with multiple modalities/techniques
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Job responsibilities and duties will be to offer on-site counseling and treatment services (to include mobile travel between sites) for the following prominent issues:
·                       Work-place conflicts
·                       Transitional concerns (being away from family and support systems in a foreign country)
·                       Stress management
·                       Grief counseling
·                       Management consultations and employee coaching
·                       CISD/CISM services for critical incidence
·                       Conduct mediations as requested or needed
·                       On call for emergencies
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
·                       Requires a favorably adjudicated Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) investigation conducted by the Department of State, Bureau of Diplomatic Security.
·                       Behavioral Health Specialist will sign a CHS HCSS-I Foreign Service Agreement (FSA) and is bound to the terms and conditions of the FSA. All shall demonstrate proficiency in the use of basic word processing programs and the CHS Medical Management System software.
·                       The normal workweek is established by the DoS Chief of Mission.
·                       Non-U.S. citizen assignments under this contract in Iraq must undergo, and favorably pass, an Investigation conducted by the Iraq Embassy Regional Security Office (RSO). This background investigation will be conducted by the RSO’s FSNI (Foreign Service National Investigator).
·                       Maintains the highest regard for patient dignity and observe the precepts of the American Hospital Associations Bill of Rights for patients.
The following requirements apply to all Behavioral Health Specialists:
o                      Participate in training, (including HIPAA training) that may be required by DOS or CHS prior to deployment to Iraq.
o                      Complete a two week Foreign Affairs Counter Terrorism training course prior to deployment to Iraq for work on the HCSS-Iraq contract. Training will include: Combat First Aid, Weapons Familiarization, Defensive Tactics/Driving, IED recognition, Surveillance Detection and Hostage Survival and Personnel Recovery
o                      Have a valid, current U.S. Driver’s License or a country of origin Driver’s License.
o                      Must have a current U.S. Passport or country of origin Passport.
o                      Shall be proficient in the ability to speak, write and communicate in English.
o                      Behavioral Health Specialist shall demonstrate proficiency in the use of basic word processing programs and the CHS Medical Management System software.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
·                       Must be confirmed by a medical examination to be "medically and dentally fit" in accordance with DOS requirements for service in Iraq.
·                       Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment; travel in Iraq is required by surface or air.
·                       The climate is desert-like, hot, and prone to dust storms.
