Slippery Rock University invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Department of Counseling and Development's School Counseling program at the Assistant Professor rank beginning Fall, 2011.

Slippery Rock University is a mid-size public institution approximately 45 minutes north of Pittsburgh, PA. The Department of Counseling and Development offers master's programs in School Counseling, Community Counseling, and Student Affairs in Higher Education, each of which is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). Responsibilities:  Teaching responsibilities may include but are not limited to master's level courses in the areas of School Counseling, Career Development, Group Counseling, Assessment, Social and Cultural Diversity, and Field Supervision. The position includes the possibility of undergraduate teaching. Research area of specialization is open.

Qualifications:  Doctorate in Counselor Education or a related field as of August 15, 2011 is required.  Recent, relevant, and significant experience as a school counselor is required, and there is a preference for at least 3 years of school counseling experience.  Eligibility for school counseling certification in Pennsylvania is required.  Preferences include university teaching experience, experience with CACREP programs, and experience counseling special education students.  Performance in an on-campus interview, including a teaching demonstration, and perceived ability to work productively with students and colleagues are required. The candidate must demonstrate a commitment to the education of diverse populations.
