The Department of Counseling, Psychology, and Special Education,
housed in Duquesne University???s School of Education, seeks to
fill a tenure-track senior faculty position, in Counselor
Education, at the Associate Professor level. Salary and terms of
appointment are commensurate with qualifications and include a
12-month salary, vacation, and benefits package.
Duquesne University???s School of Education faculty shares a
distinct identity, which is manifested through its Educational
Leadership, Scholarship for and with Schools, and Spiritan
tradition of caring. The Counselor Education Program is nationally
accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and
Related Educational Programs (CACREP), offering master???s-level
programs in community agency and school counseling and marriage
and family therapy, as well as a Ph.D. program in counselor
education and supervision. Candidates are expected to demonstrate
excellence in research related to counselor education, teach at
both the master???s and doctoral levels in face-to-face and online
formats, advise students, collaborate with colleagues, and enhance
the research capacity of the Department and School. The specific
areas of research and scholarship are open; however, we welcome
applicants with expertise in urban education and those who bring
perspectives from working with students in the schools. We seek
candidates with experience teaching in a CACREP-accredited
program, who possess the following: certification as a school
counselor, licensure as a professional counselor, or eligibility
for certification or licensure in PA; at least three years
experience as a professional school counselor or as a professional
counselor in relevant clinical settings; a strong professional
identity as a counselor; a doctorate in counselor education from a
CACREP-accredited program; and university-level teaching and
leadership experience. We are committed to enhancing the culture
of the School of Education by continuing to increase the diversity
of our people, programs, and curricula.
Appointment begins July 1, 2011. Applicants should submit the
following: (a) a letter of application reflecting qualifications
and interests, (b) a curriculum vitae, (c) transcripts of academic
work, (d) sample publications, and (e) at least three letters of
recommendation. References will not be contacted without the

November, 2010, and continue until the position is filled. We
anticipate interviews beginning as early as mid-November;
