The Division of Psychology and Counseling in the College of Education at Governors State University seeks to fill a tenure-track faculty position, which requires teaching classes in both the Master's and Doctoral Counseling programs and teaching at the undergraduate level when necessary. An important element of this position is to maintain an active research agenda and supervise graduate and doctoral students. In addition, the successful candidate will fulfill service responsibilities to the division, college, university, and counseling profession. Collaboration with other colleagues in the College of Education and community partners is expected along with developing and carrying out a research/grant agenda that addresses culturally diverse issues and concerns.

Minimum Qualifications 

·         Doctorate degree in Counselor Education or closely related field , ABD's will be considered 

·         Commitment to the professional field of counselor education 

·         Commitment to diversity and multicultural counseling competencies 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

·         Graduate of a CACREP-approved program 

·         Evidence of teaching at Master's and/or Doctorate level 

·         Supervisory experience with off-campus internship and/or practicum sites 

·         Evidence that race, class, gender, sexual orientation, and/or other diverse issues are addressed in syllabi, teaching, supervision, research, and practice 

·         Evidence of a record of scholarship, and potential for developing a robust scholarly agenda 

·         Experience working with graduate students in instruction, mentoring and research related activities 

·         Ability to advise doctoral students and chair dissertations 

·         Ability to teach statistics, methods, and other research courses 

·         A specialization in marriage and family counseling/therapy, community counseling, school counseling, college counseling, or statistics
